The Political Integrity Pledge Makes Good Electoral Politics
Congratulations to the first Congressional candidate to take the Political Integrity Pledge and win!
Christian Menefee will be the new Representative from TX-18 after beating Amanda Edwards by 35 points in a special election this past Saturday. Menefee is a Texas native and elected Harris County Attorney since 2021. He was also one of the first candidates to take the Political Integrity Pledge, promising to:
Reject Corporate PAC money
Support overturning Citizens United
Support a ban on lobbying after leaving elected office
Support a ban on Congressional stock trading + not hold individual stocks while in office
While Menefee owns individual stock as a private citizen, we will be working with his team to ensure he follows through with his pledge and places his holdings in a blind trust or sells them.
The Political Integrity Pledge is not an empty promise. We know that Americans believe our politics is beyond repair and will do everything in our power to hold politicians accountable to the people.
